Ales Beers and Carols 2015

We’re off!

The leaflets are here, and our first date is Advent weekend at the end of November. There are more opportunities than ever to join us for some carolling in proper pubs, and we’ve been invited to help out elsewhere too. One outdoor event in Aldridge, four pubs, and an artisan bakery.

If you prefer your leaflets in electronic format, you can download your own copy here.

Everyone is most welcome to join us and join in with these events:

Aldridge Advent Adventure

Nov 28th The team at Walsall Council are organising this event and have invited us to sing at the beginning and in the last half hour. Come down and join in this community event in the middle of Aldridge. There will be something for everyone and it’s always a fun day out. They’re still looking for people to get involved (not just in Aldridge) so have a look at this article for more information.

The Bowman The HotHouse, Aldridge

Dec 13th In the heart of the Redhouse Estate, The Bowman will not quite have finished its refit, so is unable to host this annual Christmas event from the Hothouse. It’ll be Gary Daniel’s last year at the helm, so a mixture of celebration and leaving bash. Festivities begin at 4:00pm in the Hothouse itself, which is in the row of shops on Myatt Avenue.

The Avion, Aldridge

Dec 14th Returning to this vast and welcoming public house, we’re in for the third year running. Kicking off at 8:00pm or thereabouts we’ll be carolling for a couple of hours at least. The acoustics of the building are remarkable, and so is the beer. We’ll be enjoying both and trying to remember the 12 Days of Christmas in order this time.

The Lazy Hill, Aldridge

Dec 16th A gem of a pub hidden in plain sight – great ales and a chilled out atmosphere give this pub a cosy feel. It’ll be our fourth year carolling in this wonderful community pub. Come down from 8:00pm and join in. Again, 8:00pm is the time to be with us and ready to go.

The Black Country Arms, Walsall

Dec 21st There may be 12 Days of Christmas, but there are 16 pumps of real ales and ciders at the Black Country Arms. A fixture on our annual tour of Walsall, the BCA is a fine public house and a welcoming venue. We’ll be upstairs from 8:00pm, serenading the bar and trying to perfect “While Shepherds Watched their Flocks by Night” to the tune of “House of the Rising Sun”.

The Bakehouse, Walsall

Dec 22nd The Bakehouse on Goodall Street is run by Tom, who has a great idea – The Wrap-In – where you can turn up with unwrapped presents you need to sort out away from prying eyes, enjoy the fine produce of the Bakehouse, sing carols, and browse through the attached boutique gift shop for those last minute purchases. We’ll get going from 7:00pm and be done in time to sneak the presents back in past inquisitive relatives.

  1. Hi Andrew. I’ve noted all the dates in my diary and will support you at some. The bellringers at St Matts will join you at some stage in the week before christmas; I’ll let you know what we decide. I rope in others.
